When we lose our loved ones, we want to keep their memories alive.
Award-winning designer Evelyn Huang of evenlynH is doing just that with her latest venture, The Forever Sunshine Project. Huang named the project in honor of a close friend, Fanny Sun, who passed away last year from Thymic Carcinoma – a rare, malignant cancer that affects the thymus gland.
Huang was inspired by Sun’s philanthropic ways when creating The Forever Sunshine Project. She said in a statement: “Ms. Fanny Sun was a very dear friend of my husband Michael and I, and we wanted to be able to give back and live by the examples of kindness, love and giving that she set in her personal life. We are optimistic this project will be that little package of sunshine for anyone who needs it.”
In partnership with the American Cancer Society, Evenly has designed a necklace and lapel pin to support the organization. The specific design of both the necklace and pin has special symbolism. The 12mm turquoise amazonite bead in the center represents hope, while the small yellow sapphire below it means the drop of courage found in all of us. Wings surround the amazonite bead, symbolizing a guardian angel, with its heart-shape top expressing greater love. A gold vermeil located on the opposite of the wings represents a ray of sunshine.
You can purchase the necklace and pin at foreversunshine.org for $99 each. Ninety percent of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
