I’m a super lazy hair person. I mean, I can spend hours on skin care and makeup, but hair? I wanna just wash and go. It helps that my hair is generally healthy and frizz-free, and that a ponytail or high bun is my look du jour.
But I will say, my perspective has changed a bit after I got a blow-out at Nelson Chan’s salon a couple months back. My hair looked like it belonged in a Pantene commercial and I’m seriously reconsidering the whole wash and go look.
Thankfully, as a beauty editor, I have no shortage of tools and gizmos to try out my new look. But flat irons just make my hair look, well, flat and Asian my hair doesn’t take to curling irons very well. But the next level of flat iron technology is now on the market — one that creates smooth, sleek hair that is not stick straight and without flattening.
The brand new Ferrum Professional Styler uses a VSS System which is a combination of a non-heated padded fabric element and a tourmaline coated ceramic plate. The fabric is a combination of lightweight, anti-static polymers that allows the hair to “breathe” while straightening. This results in a smoothness that resembles a blow-out — sleek but voluminous — not that stick straight, flat-ironed look (that’s so 2002).
You can also use the Ferrum Professional Styler to curl the hair or give it gentle waves, and because you’re not frying your hair between two heated plates, Ferrum minimizes breakage. To get more info on Ferrum as well as styling tips, go to www.Ferrumiron.com.
Now one lucky Audrey reader is going to win a brand new Ferrum Professional Styler valued at $160.
You have until June 8, Wednesday, 11:59 pm PST to enter by doing the following:
1. Tell us your favorite section in Audrey Magazine and why (My Story, Audrey Style, The Awful Truth, etc.)
2. Tell us your hair routine every morning!
The contest is only open for U.S. residents and you must have a U.S. mailing address to win. You can enter as many times as you wish! Good luck!
My favorite section is Audrey Style because I love fashion of all sorts and love how the magazine covers current fashion and trends in the industry. My morning hair routine is 1. Wake up and see if my hair is crazy or cooperating 2. If its crazy pony tail/top knot 3. If its cooperating maybe touch up with a curling iron or straightener and throw on a headband or maybe leave it down.
Does the “Personalities” section count? I love reading that section because it highlights the accomplishments of AAs that I wouldn’t otherwise know about if I didn’t read Audrey. For my morning rountine, I just brush my hair.
I am still so wishing I am lucky enough to win this. My daughter is getting older and loves having her hair straight. She helped me straighten my hair at a friend’s the other day and I loved it. If we won this it would definitely be wonderful.
I like the The Awful Truth
My routine involves daily shampoo/conditioner, split end treatment, straightening and frizz-ease. I gotta straighten or my hair poofs out on me
truthfully, I don’t really have a favorite story. Neither do I dislike. I feel like everyone’s saying the same thing. i just love free Friday giveaways >:D
I love love the fashion section. It’s different than most mags because of the variety of topics & it’s great! My hair routine… comb it. Yupp it’s that boring. When I am busy trying to get baby to eat.. sometimes I don’t even have time to run a comb through it
It usually ends up in a boring ponytail mid-morning at work.
My husband told me about Hot Tools.. (I’m guessing he wanted me to make my hair wavy like his co-worker….*meh*) . I’m not really good with hair tools but this one looks like it is easy to use and would make my hair look healthy and fantastic like the model’s! (ok well maybe not quite like the model’s but hopefully fantastic enough for the hubs to look at me pre-baby way.. puahahaha).
Love love love “my story!”
I am unfortunately a wash-and-go person too…I tried curling irons but the smell of burnt hair didn’t mix with my perfume…never liked the look of stick-straight hair on me…mousse and rollers are good for a night out but they don’t fit into my 20-minutes-of-getting-pretty-and-out-the-door routine. I’d love to try the new Ferrum styler!
My favorite section in Audrey is Beauty Living and Beauty Kit (couldn’t choose just one
)
My morning routine during school days is very quick. I brush my hair, sometimes add volumizing mousse and basically just work with my hair to make it look slightly decent then go to school!
During the weekend, I shower then air dry and I might try to straighten my hair a little, but my straightener never really does the job of making my hair straight so I usually just leave it. I might sometimes curl it or just braid it. But most of the time, I’m pretty lazy about my hair.
I need this styler!!! First of all, I am a spaz, and have tangled myself up in flat iron cords and fried my hair while trying to get untangled. I’ve gotten round brushes completely stuck on my head while blow drying, so instead of beautiful waves ended up with a bird’s nest effect. Second, I’m hopelessly sleep-deprived (mom of 2) – one day I plugged in and held what I thought was the flat iron up to my head and when I looked in the mirror realized it was THE IRON – the CLOTHING IRON!!!! My morning routine is now just finger combing the mess – I do still sometimes poke myself in the eye, but at least there’s no burning involved.
I love the personality features in Audrey. They highlight the inner and outer beauty of the subjects, where they’re putting their energies, how they approach life. I also love the “My Story” first person accounts (I have one in the current issue, and feel very humbled and inspired by all the great ones that were published before – read them in the archives if you haven’t already!)
Forgot to mention my favorite section is the ever popular, The Awful Truth. So excited about the thought of my morning routine being shortened with straight hair.
Would love to win this. My morning routine is getting my kids up and going, Doing my daughter’s waist length really curly hair and getting out the door in time. My almost waist length wavy hair is usually pulled in a messy bun till I realize I am at work and I take it down from the night before. This flat iron would have two heads showing it love in my house.
Favorite section has always been The Awful Truth… I guess i just like the he said she said aspect of it.
Hair routine: Sadly, pony tails are my way of life especially when thekids wake me up and my hair is all poufy in the morning.
Seriously, The Awful Truth
I have two preschool boys. My morning routine is all about speed and making *them* look good. My poor hair is overtreated, and it can’t stand washing except every few days. I almost never have time to blow it out. My flat iron is my trusted but inefficient friend. Each day I spray in some dry shampoo, comb it through and then section my hair and flat-iron it. Then, I spend countless minutes trying fluff and hairspray it, because it is too flat!
Help me, Aubrey One Kenobi! You’re my only hope!
The Awful Truth for sure!
I’m usually a brush and go kind of girl unless the occasion calls for something different. Bun if I have bedhead, braid if i’m frizzy, straightener for an interview, curler for a night out!
And I swear by paul mitchell tea tree moisturizing gel after showers. mm smells good.
1. who doesn’t love the aweful truth?
2. Every morning i do the same old boring thing… hop out of the shower, throw some moose into my crazy mass of curls and bobby pin the top back. I would love to change it up but to flat iron this mess takes an hour and even brushing it is a daunting task. Not to mention the tons of fly-aways i have from years of flat iron abuse.
this item rocks!
