Whenever I roll out all my makeup brushes, I’m always met with, “whoa, that’s legit,” and “dang, you’re pro.”
That’s cause I am when it comes to applying my makeup. I’m not going to settle for any little old brushes found in the dinky cosmetic packs with the eyeshadow and lip gloss.
But it sure ain’t easy toting all my brushes around. I roll them up in a striped brush bag my aunt made for me, which has pockets for all the different-sized brushes, eyeliners, and mascaras I use but it’s still a hefty bulk.
So it’s pretty sweet that Japonesque has unveiled their new line of artist tools– an interchangeable, professional-quality, snap-on makeup brush collection.
Using magnets, the brush sets allow you to snap on and snap off the different types of brushes you need to apply your makeup. The brush collection includes:
* Starter Set – Includes Dual-Ended Magnetic Brush Handle which easily connects to all Artist Tools Brush Heads; Foundation Brush Head – its silky soft bristles and paddle-style design ensure a perfect application and is ideal for blending foundation and concealer seamlessly onto skin; Angled Eye Liner Brush Head – angled to a perfect edge for controlled contouring and detailed eye lining. SRP: $12.
* Powder Brush – Dust the perfect amount of powder onto skin to achieve a flawless photo finish. Easily applies your favorite powder, bronzer or shimmer to face and body. Synthetic hair. SRP: $9.
* Shadow Crease Brush – Expertly define and shape eyes for a look that makes you stand out in any scene. Sweep the brush back and forth starting at the middle of the crease and working your way to the outer corner of the eye. This will blend you darker shadow to give you perfect definition and contour. Synthetic hair. SRP: $4.
* All Over Eyeshadow Brush – Perfect for adding color from lid to brow to get your eyes camera ready in a flash. After applying darker color to the crease, use the All Over Shadow Brush to swirl and blend color for a look that really pops! Synthetic hair. SRP: $4.
* Brow/Lash Comb – Create full, shapely brows and dramatically defined lashes with the Brow/Lash Comb. Brush brow upwards and outwards to shape and define. Synthetic hair. SRP: $4.
* Bent Liner Brush – Achieve a dramatic or natural effect with the Bent Liner Rush. Easily lines eyes with precision and control. Tapered to a point to give you the most exact line. Apply more pressure to increase the thickness of the line to get a look that is bold and dramatic. Synthetic hair. SRP: $4.

Having never been one to obsess over my hair much, I came to a revelation recently.
My hair is thin. Asian hair thin.
This was told to me by my longtime hair cutter who, after lopping off half my hair, informed me I did not suit a certain hairstyle because of my limp locks.
So that explains why I’ve always had a hard time creating that sexy bombshell look. That explains why I hardly ever get to have my hair fall completely straight down my back. That explains how the universe was created! (Okay, so maybe not that…)
Thank goodness there is a product out there for thin-haired girls like me to achieve instant va-va-va-voom hair.
Say hello to the göt2b Powder’ful volumizing styling powder. Continue Reading »
When I was in college, I distinctly remember one ill-advised trip to an outdoors activities fair which led to the worst sunburn I’d ever had in my entire life. My nose looked like it was falling off and my shoulders cried out in pain for the remotest of touch.
“Why don’t you put some aloe on that?” My friends winced at me.
Any die-hard fans of Harry Potter out there? Well, here is our weekly giveaway that is just for you HP fans out there.
“These are DARK TIMES,” is what it says on the T-shirt that Audrey is giving away this week along with a USB drive in the shape of the first horcrux discovered by Dumbledore and Harry. The necklace doubles as a USB drive with a serpent on the front. Both perfect for an everyday item as well as a perfectly planned outfit for the opening weekend of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I just recently came out in theaters as a box office hit. This isn’t just in the United States, but all over the world. A cumulative amount of $330.1 million dollars was earned in the global box office in its opening weekend. Not really surprising when its based off of the best selling novels by J.K. Rowling.
Many of you guys are probably asking, “Why would they make us wait for part II?” or “Why is there even a part II?” Well maybe the answer from Daniel Radcliffe will quench your curiosity. “I think it’s the only way you can do it, without cutting out a huge portion of the book. There have been compartmentalized subplots in the other books that have made them easier to cut, but the seventh book doesn’t really have any subplots. It’s one driving, pounding story from the word go.”
To win this better-than-Black Fridaygiveaway, all you have to do it post comments to three of Audrey‘s other blog posts and leave a comment after this post telling us which posts you commented on. A tweet = an extra chance to win. (Just tag @audreymagazine so we’ll be able to see it.) The giveaway ends Wednesday, December 1 @ 11:59pm. No international friends, sorry. Good luck!

Best friends are a special thing. Soul sisters are a rare treasure. One that often ended at childhood when you stopped trading friendship necklaces. But BuyLoveGiveLove is bringing that back.
BuyLove came to life at a local starbucks when two childhood friends came together with a vision in mind. Like a friendship bracelet for grown ups, the tote bags comes in a pair, each one containing half of a bigger design that can be seen when the bags are placed side by side. The designs are intricately-sketched heart details that is sure to make all the girly girls in us swoon.
Even better, you’d be supporting a good cause by purchasing a tote bag! Each tote bag would focus on empowering women through different non-profit organizations. Each bag purchased will give 5% of its proceeds to a non-profit organization that best represents that line.
The official launch party for the line is November 7th, 2010 in Pomona, CA. A sneak peak of the lines will be shown along with information about the various organizations BuyLove is working with. Each bag purchased will include a message about the organization that the proceeds will be going to, in hopes of inspiring women and girls everywhere to get involved. The tote bags are perfect for school, work, or even the beach. It has a top zip closure with two interior pockets and is made out of a cotton canvas with leather PU trim and metal feet on the bottom.
The BuyLove tote, with a design of an oversized gift-wrapped heart will give proceeds to Precious Life Shelter, whose mission is to provide residential and supportive services for homeless pregnant adult women.
The BuyForgiveness tote, a patched up heart, will support Marin Services for Women, helping women save and transform their lives by providing the most effective substance abuse recovery programs.
And last but not least, the BuyStrength tote (pictured above), a pretty tree blossoming with hearts, will support Operation Courage is Beautiful whose mission is to show our appreciation for our courageous military service women’s contribution and sacrifice by shipping care packages that give a little joy and femininity to their service lives.
We are giving away a pair of BuyStrength tote to one lucky winner (and her best friend). Since these bags are so awesome, we’re requesting you to:
1) Look through our previous posts and comment on three of them.
2) On the comments section below THIS post, tell us which three posts you commented on.
We will select the best comment and award them the giveaway. An @audreymagazine tweet will also count as a comment!
This giveaway ends Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 11:59PM. Good luck and happy commenting!
Thanks to Audrey reader Marietta Leung who sent us these lovely photos of herself and the Bryna Nicole bag she won in one of our recent Thank Goodness It’s Free Friday giveaways!
Here’s what Marietta says:
“I can’t express how much I love Bryna Nicole’s Tall Harlow bag. I’m a lover of neutral colors and the caramel color just makes it the perfect bag for the fall. The bag is made with a soft, velvety leather that makes it really nice to hold. I also like the multiple pockets located outside the bag, which are great for stashing small items like my keys, cell phone, and metrocards. “Tall Harlow” is simply chic and gorgeous. Thanks Bryna Nicole & Audrey Magazine!”
