We have posted quite a number of instances where the Asian-American community has been forced to endure racism, negative stereotypes, and even death threats because of our ethnicity. We continue to deal with this ignorance and we plan to keep fighting until such racism has stopped. With that said, it is extremely disappointing to see stuff like this amidst our struggle for equality. Clearly, Asian-Americans are not exempt from the list of people who perpetuate racial ignorance.

In UC Irvine, Asian-American fraternity Lambda Theta Delta released a video where one of the brothers performs Blackface. In addition to this, the video is posted with “Disclaimer: No racism intended” which we personally feel is no excuse (especially in a University where Asian -Americans compromise more than half of the student body population while African-Americans make up less than 3%).

Unfortunately, this isn’t even their first time to create a stir. On Lambda Theta Delta’s 2012 Rush Video, there is blackface yet again and an individual wearing a  sombrero and poncho as a costume.   (Watch the video here ) Needless to say, the fraternity’s actions has caused chaos. Lambda Theta Delta has released an apology  claiming that the video does not represent the views of the house and the individuals responsible for the video have been reprimanded.

As Asian-Americans, we have faced our shared of racism, stereotypes, and racial mockery. Is it not our goal to fight against it rather than turn around and commit these acts towards other people of color? Let us know what you think.

With Justin Timberlake’s success rising everyday, its no surprise that people everywhere have been jamming out to his new album. But “jamming out” may be an understatement for musician Kevin Lien who went all out for his very impressive acapella cover of JT’s hit song “Mirrors”. Lien’s talent has already gained over 11,000 views within the few days that the cover was released. Lien certainly proves that he’s an artist to keep an eye on.

I’m in love with Justin Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience” – and you’re lying to me if you say you’re not a fan. There are multiple covers out there (including this adorable one by David So and Paul Kim), but this by far – is my favorite, featuring Epik High’s Tablo and Lydia Paek, who put out a refreshing version of Timberlake’s comeback single, “Suit and Tie” – enjoy!

If you thought the new Facebook movie, The Social Network just consisted of a bunch of dorky white guys talking about the internet, think again!

The movie also has plenty of eye candy, namely pretty (Eur)asian girls, infiltrating the scenes. The blogosphere is already all a flutter over whether these ladies are acceptable or not, objectified or not, stereotyped or not.

Whether or not the females in the film are just useless sex objects conveying a misrepresented stereotype, we know the actresses portraying the parts are anything but useless.  Let’s get to know them a little better.

Brenda Song

22-year old Brenda Song is Christy Lee, a girlfriend of one of the main characters, Eduardo Saverin, in the flick.  Within minutes of meeting Christy, she is off in a bathroom stall, giving Eduardo some…special favors in a restroom stall – something that completely contradicts the Disney Channels princess image the actress is most known for, playing London Tipton on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Song, who is Hmong, has been in the limelight since she was 5 and has more films in the works, including the indie Little Sister and The Suite Life Movie.

Malese Jow

Another tween darling, Jow’s age makes us blush a little as she played Song’s friend, Alice who gives main character Marc Zuckerburg (played by Jesse Eisenberg) the same…special favors that Christy Lee was giving Eduardo. The girl is only 19! The Chinese-Native American Jow has taken on plenty of TV roles, her breakout one being Emma Roberts’ best friend in Unfabulous.  She was also part of The Vampire Diaries’ first season. We’re not sure where Jow will pop up next but with that striking face, we won’t be surprised if it’s sometime soon.

Courtney Arndt

Model Courtney Arndt is none other than our Fall cover girl!  Still a newcomer to the industry, Arndt (who also goes by Courtney Jane) plays the “Victoria’s Secret Model” on Napster founder Sean Parker’s (played by Justin Timberlake) arms. The 21-year old Korean-German-Irish-Native American was discovered in Korea and has been modeling in Hawaii but we really just need more of her hotness over here!
