The weather is getting warm and we’re starting to get ready for those restless summer evenings. Luckily for Audrey readers, there are blooming possibilities for the movie-goers, dance buffs, and hungry tasters in all of us. Check out what is happening now and around the web this week.

It’s already the middle of April, and Audrey Magazine is gearing up for the summer months by presenting you with a multitude of activities, from the budding talents of young Asian Americans at Kollaboration Boston, to a Californian film festival and a visual and literary art exhibition.

It’s almost the end of March, and as the Cherry Blossoms start blooming, we can start whipping out our Spring/Summer ensembles. Nordstrom Hawaii to host Allison Izu Release Event

Calling all petites! Allison Izu will be holding a release event at the Ala Moana Nordstrom on March 24, Saturday from 11am – 3pm in Hawaii to help customers find the perfect pair of Allison Izu jeans.
Allison Izu is a unique clothing company which designs and creates clothing for petite women, so they can realize their true beauty comes in a “smaller package”!

At the SXSW Style X fashion portion of the Austin, TX festival, NAMI announced the launch of its new online store to offer the full collection from Spring|Summer wear for 2012.
NAMI is a brand based out of Los Angeles, started by the multi-talented Korean-American designer Sarah Nami Ahn.
Rise Up! SAALT Young Leaders Institute

If you a South Asian American college student who wants to change your campus and community, then considering applying to the Rise Up! SAALT Young Leaders Institute to be held in Washington DC the week of May 6-8.
Rise Up! is a four-day gathering of fellow students who are looking to build better skills and strategies, create change and be more effective leaders in their respective campuses and communities.

The Asian Women Giving Circle is pleased to announce the 2012 Request for Proposals for their Women, Arts and Activism grants.
Through this RFP, the Asian Women Giving Circle seeks to support Asian American women-led projects that use the tools of culture, the arts, and education to raise awareness around issues that impact Asian American communities. The focus of this grant making will be on programs and projects that combine the arts with activism and that highlight and promote women’s central role in their leadership, creation, development and management.
The deadline for submitting a proposal is Monday, March 26, 2012 at 5 pm (Eastern Standard Time).

Kollaboration, the largest showcase for Asian Pacific Islander (API) talent in North America, announced 24-year-old South Korean singer G.NA as its headliner for its 11th annual show at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Saturday, November 5.
“We’re excited to have G.NA at our largest Kollaboration show yet because she has been making headlines in South Korea since her debut in 2010,” said Roy Choi, executive producer and CEO of Kollaboration. “Like many of our competing performers, she started out young and is bold in sharing her talent with the world.”
Kollaboration will wrap up the 2011 series of nationwide shows with its 11th annual show in Los Angeles. Other special guest performers taking the stage include symphonic quintet Ensemble Memo, singer-songwriter Clara C, and comedian and founder of Kollaboration, Paul “P.K.” Kim. RACHAEL YAMAGATA, 2011 CHESAPEAKE TOUR
Beautiful Japanese-Italian-German American singer-songwriter, Rachael Yamagata, just began her 2011 Tour on October 24 in Portland, Main’s Port City Music Hall. The tour is in celebration of the release of Yamagata’s third album, Chesapeake.
Chesapeake features an eclectic collection of songs projecting Yamagata’s optimism and hopefulness, showcasing her sultry and smoky voice, rich, layered harmonies, striking ballads and soulful grooves. The tour will hit major U.S. cities and will finish off on December 22nd at New York City’s City Winery.
