Having never been one to obsess over my hair much, I came to a revelation recently.
My hair is thin. Asian hair thin.
This was told to me by my longtime hair cutter who, after lopping off half my hair, informed me I did not suit a certain hairstyle because of my limp locks.
So that explains why I’ve always had a hard time creating that sexy bombshell look. That explains why I hardly ever get to have my hair fall completely straight down my back. That explains how the universe was created! (Okay, so maybe not that…)
Thank goodness there is a product out there for thin-haired girls like me to achieve instant va-va-va-voom hair.
Say hello to the göt2b Powder’ful volumizing styling powder. Continue Reading »
I remember when I first arrived in Boston, everyone was not as friendly or nice as I was used to. Some people were straight up mean and rude. And as a recent and very naive high school grad, I was appalled.
Maybe if I had had a deck o’ these cards on me, people might have reciprocated my warm smiles and bright thank you’s and sorry’s with more than just a grunt or a dirty look.

I’m a super lazy hair person. I mean, I can spend hours on skin care and makeup, but hair? I wanna just wash and go. It helps that my hair is generally healthy and frizz-free, and that a ponytail or high bun is my look du jour.
But I will say, my perspective has changed a bit after I got a blow-out at Nelson Chan’s salon a couple months back. My hair looked like it belonged in a Pantene commercial and I’m seriously reconsidering the whole wash and go look.
When Korean American Grace Lee‘s firstborn, Olivia, turned 1, she left her career in finance to be a stay-at-home mom. But it wasn’t long before the 33-year-old got antsy. One day, Lee, her husband and Olivia went for a drive in the family minivan. Lee turned to her husband and said, “Honey, what do you think about me designing jewelry?” He answered, “Go for it!”
And Oli + Me was born.
We got the scoop about this new fine jewelry line from Lee herself.
This week’s giveaways are made for the modern woman who is always multitasking. FUMI’s Bracelet PurseHook and Scarlett are not only multi-functional, they provide solutions to everyday problems.
The Bracelet PurseHook is an alloy metal triple threat — a bangle for your wrist, a cool accessory to hang on your purse, and a purse hook that keeps your bag (up to 20 pounds) from touching the floor at restaurants, bars, even restrooms. Snap it on your wrist in the morning, and then use it as a purse hook during lunch with the girls. After you’ve paid your bill, snap it back on your wrist. (No lugging around in your already heavy purse!) They have a variety of styles from of-the-moment leopard to lizard to minimalist silver.
FUMI also created the Scarlett, a microfiber sunglasses cleaner that clips to your purse strap for easy access. It comes in a bunch of hot prints so it looks cool hanging off your bag. And with almost three dozen different prints to choose from, you can update any bag with a fun, pretty print.
FUMI, which stands for Fashionable, Unique, Multifunctional, and Innovation, is a design company started in 2007 that offers fashionable and multipurpose products ranging from jewelry to accessories. And now FUMI is offering Audrey readers a 10% discount on online orders. Just use discount code FUMI2010SPEC.
Of course, one Audrey reader will win a free Pewter Fumi Pursehook and the Scarlett in Black Versache. All you have to do is comment below by Wednesday January 12, 11:59 pm, and you might be the lucky winner!
As always, you must have a U.S. mailing address to win. Good luck!
Another lucky Audrey reader shows off her giveaway win! This time, Sunkyung Park won Jellypop’s “Trendy” sandals in one of last month’s TGIFree Friday Giveaway.
Of her sandals, Sunkyung says on her blog: “One of the first things I did when I got to LA was try on these cute Jellypop sandals that Audrey Magazine sent me (part of their TGIF every week!). My feet are kind of on the wide side and big for a Korean girl. A size 7.5 is almost unheard of amongst my size 6 friends, and when I tell them sometimes I can fit into 8s they shudder. Regardless, much to my delight these sandals fit perfectly! Thanks Jellypop and Audrey Magazine!”
Wanna be a part of the Audrey community? Just comment below and tell us why you’re an Audrey girl. You just may win some goodies … no waiting till Friday!
(Of course, we have another TGIFree Friday coming up in two more days … so check back soon!)
Congratulations to Audrey reader Sasha, who won Tina Tang’s sterling silver “Crescent” necklace from our Thank Goodness It’s Free Friday Giveaway! Isn’t she adorable?
“I have just received the Tina Tang ‘Crescent’ necklace in the mail today! Somehow, I love it even more in person. It happens to be just the right length on me as well! It is, in a word, stellar. Wow, really didn’t mean to end on a pun like that . . .”
Thanks Sasha for being a loyal reader! And if you haven’t won anything yet, don’t lose heart. We have a lot more goodies to give away every Friday, so keep checking back!
