It’s an early Friday afternoon, and jewelry designer Joomi Lim and her partner in business and life, Xavier Ricolfi, are running out of time. They’re conducting a meeting in their New York City showroom with a potential distributor, while simultaneously directing contractors on how to set up the lighting in the new space. They take time to speak with this reporter, before dashing off to an event at Saks Fifth Avenue to promote their line, Joomi Lim.
“It’s always this busy,” Lim says, chuckling.

Target seems to always bring in our favorite Asian designers for a collaboration: Richard Chai, Thakoon, Jason Wu, and recently, Prabal Gurung – and now – wait for it – PHILLIP LIM. Target officially made the announcement earlier this morning, naming Lim as the latest designer to join the ranks of other designers to produce a collection with the retail giant. The 100 piece collection (for women AND men) will make its debut on September 15, with pieces ranging from $29.99 to $299.99. The looks will feature “a classic fall palette of neutral tones and prints.”
Alright, this absolutely wants to make me skip the summer season and go right into fall. September 15 is too far away!

Another designer collaboration has caught our eye: denim company Current/Elliot teams up with Greek fashion designer Mary Katrantzou, who is well known her for prints/textile designs in the fashion world. It’s one of the more exciting designer collaborations for me in 2013 – and Lane Crawford put together a great ad campaign featuring model Angie Ng.

Chiharu Okugama is slowly becoming one of my favorite models (Tao Okamoto, you’re still my #1!) – she’s definitely progressed as a model since she caught my eyes from Yohji Yamamoto’s S/S 2011 collection. Check out her badass editorial below and also her feature on Vogue Italia’s site. It ALWAYS is awesome to see Asian models appear more and more in western fashion publications!
