At the age of 25, Clara C has become quite the youtube sensation. After only four years since her big break, this Audrey favorite has already set a great example for young Asian American women hoping to pursue their dreams. The young artist has decided to focus her attention on the thing she loves most- music. And what if (knock on wood) music doesn’t work out for her? She has a Psychology degree in her pocket to turn to. Beauty, talent, and brains? See for yourself. Check out Clara C’s new music video below:
Audrey Magazine came out to support our sister publication, KoreAm Journal, for their annual event, Unforgettable at the Park Plaza Hotel on . The affair was bigger than ever, selling out prior to the event, and boasted a roster of big names within the Korean American community. Contributing Editor Ada Tseng and I took on the big task (read: fun task) of interviewing some of the red carpet arrivals, which included The Walking Dead‘s Steve Yeun, singer Clara C, R&B artist Amerie, and the recent winners of the Great Food Truck Race – the boys of Seoul Sausage Company.
Clara C and David Choi kicked off their long awaited fall tour, presented by YesStyle, at the nearly full house Troubadour in West Hollywood on Sept. 29 during Carmageddon 2 weekend. Long lines of excited fans waited eagerly to enter the venue as Jacob Luttrell, along with backup singers and a full band complete with a cellist, opened the night. DANakaDAN gave away a YesStyle gift certificate and revved up the appreciative crowd of nearly 500 before introducing the headlining duo to thundering applause.

There’s nothing Offbeat, as suggested by the title of her latest single, about Clara C, although her mellow voice and seriously soothing strumming give her a quirky outside-the-lines type attraction; à la Zooey Deschenel.
The 24-year old graduate of the University of California, Irvine, Clara kept her musical talents under wrap until just a few years ago when her voice was unleashed, winning her such competitions as Kollaboration 10, ISA 09: Los Angeles, as well as the KAC Media Creative Juice Night.
Since the debut of her first album in 2010, Clara has performed for up to crowds of 18,000 at venues such as The White House Dept. of Education, Hollywood Bowl, Shrine Auditorium and more.
Over the next three months, Clara is set to tour alongside fellow Asian American musician, David Choi, in a 2012 Fall Tour presented by YesStyle.com. Clara and Choi kicked off their tour yesterday, Sept. 29th in Los Angeles at the Troubadour, and will continue on to hit 19+ cities across the United States. The two will wrap up in Clara’s Alma Mater hometown of Orange County at the Galaxy Theater on November 30.
For those interested in hearing more from Los Angeles’ own little cheesy Quesadilla, there is a full interview (conducted by host Nic Harcourt), courtesy of Guitar Center, that accompanies this performance is available for free at: http://atguitarcenter.com/podcast, proving that Clara is not Offbeat, or Cheesy, but a musical force to be reckoned with.
The podcast is part of an ongoing podcast series created by Guitar Center that delivers unique music, and the stories behind it as told to host, Nic Harcourt, in the highest quality possible. The series features both exclusive performance videos and audio podcasts of these interviews that aim to tell the stories of the artists, their background, their music and more.

Korean American singer-songwriter, Clara Chung, also known as Clara C, is not only making her mark amongst the Asian American talent in the States. Following her first international tour, it is apparent that Chung is spreading her talent overseas—as seen in her recent spotlight in Seventeen Magazine, Malaysia.
Raised in Los Angeles, California, and a graduate of the University of California, Irvine, Chung began her musical journey on Youtube and made a name for herself after winning Los Angeles’ Kollaboration 10, KAC Media Juice Night, and ISA 2009.
Chung’s soul-soothing talents stretch beyond her guitar strings. Though she is pursuing music full-time, Chung also works part-time teaching autistic children.
Clara’s first international tour took her to Asia and Australia where she visited Singapore, Malaysia, Manila, Korea, Tokyo, Sydney and Melbourne promoting her debut album The Art in My Heart.

After several hours in the sun and nine hours of standing, my body was completely exhausted and my feet were dying but I must say, it was totally worth it. The International Secret Agents Los Angeles (ISA LA) event that took place in Queen Mary on October 1st gathered together the best of the best Asian YouTube stars you could think of plus other top-selling mainstream artists: Far East Movement, B.o.B, Sean Kingston, Jay Park, Wong Fu Productions, AJ Rafael, David Choi, Kevin Wu (KevJumba), Ryan Higa (NigaHiga), Clara C, Cathy Nguyen, and the list goes on. A year ago my cousin introduced me to them and I’ve been hooked ever since. In fact, I’m listening to their songs right now while I’m writing this so you can imagine how excited I was for the event.
