Is a collaboration between The Smith Family and YG Entertainment something we can look forward to? We may just be in luck.
On May 7th, father and son Will Smith and Jaden Smith spoke at a press conference in Seoul. The two discussed their most recent film After Earth, their impressions of Korea, and their admiration of YG Entertainment. Will Smith described Korea as a country overflowing with creativity and complimented the beautiful women.
Will picked out director Park Chan Wook as someone he’d like to work with in the future and he playfully added that if the movie did well in Korea, he would consider performing with Psy. Jaden expressed his admiration of GD and Big Bang – he is certain that if he were to ever work with them, they would be able to create quite the stunning piece.
The two informed the press that upon arriving in Korea, they met up with YG Entertainment artists such as Yang Hyun Suk, Teddy, Big Bang′ G-Dragon, T.O.P and Taeyang, 2NE1′s CL and other YG staff. The Smiths added that perhaps some kind of Smith family and YG family collaboration would be good.
The Smith’s then introduced Jay Park as a special guest and revealed that Park sings the end title song. “This is the first time in my life ever that I’ve been starstruck.” Park said to Smith, “For real. I’ve been watching you ever since I was a little kid.” He then told Jaden, “I’ve been seeing your stuff too. Your rap stuff. Thank you so much for coming and blessing us with your presence.”

G-Dragon’s release for his highly-anticipated video for “Michi Go” is here! The video well matched the high energy of the hip-pop tune – complete with wild styling in terms of fashion and and hair (oh all those hairstyles GD!) and special appearances from fellow YG mates Taeyang, Se7en, and Teddy. Even comedian Ahn Yeong Mi has a quick cameo as well!

The all-girl pop/rock band Nylon Pink recently released a cover of Big Bang’s latest hit, “Blue”. The video features an English cover of the Korean group’s first release off their latest mini-album “Alive” – whose video also boasts a 15 million view count (and counting!) in a month. The girls’ cover features a different take on the original – check it out!

A little dancing never hurt anyone.
On the 18th of Saturday, I found myself at the Beverly Garden Holiday Inn in North Hollywood at the K-Pop TaKover, presented by MYX TV, featuring MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew Season 5 winners Poreotics and Movement Lifestyle. People of all ages, from kids as young as 6 and adults as old as 48, participated in a number of dance workshops, scheduled over the course of two days, to learn and improve their dance techniques. What made this convention unlike any other was the fact that this was the first ever K-Pop convention.
Great news!
