The Dreamers: DANakaDAN and The Dreamlapse Project
Post by Melody • February 17, 2012 • Post a comment

A month ago, DANakaDAN x afterschoolspecial released their music video for DREAMERS. The video, produced by Scott Yoshimoto and Daniel J. Seo of The Dreamlapse Project, featured many cameos by your favorite YouTube stars from Ryan Higa and Joseph Vincent to Jason Chen and David Choi. We wanted to find out more about this huge collaboration so I contacted DANakaDAN, Scott and Daniel to see what they have to say about this project.

First we have DANakaDAN:

Audrey Magazine (AM): Tell me how the collaboration started.
DANakaDAN (D): We started about… 11 months ago. Scott and I have worked on a video before and we wanted to do another project. DREAMERS has always been the song I’ve wanted to do a video for and I wanted to do it right, so I asked Scott and we started to work on it. Continue Reading »

Video of the Day: Wong Fu Produces Leehom’s Music Video
Post by Melody • October 13, 2011 • Post a comment

Phil, Leehom and Wes. Photo credit: Wong Fu Productions.

I’m sure you all know how amazing Wong Fu Productions is at producing videos – if you don’t know who I’m talking about, where have you been this whole time? Phil, Ted and Wes have produced the music videos for YouTube stars like 7th most subscribed musician on YouTube, David Choi, and rising musical star afterschoolspecial, but never an artist in Asia. And the first time they did, they went big. I’m talking about one of the most highly visible Taiwanese stars, Wang Leehom, who personally sought them out and had them fly over to Asia to produce his newest music video – of which the song wasn’t even released to the public yet!

When the opportunity came around in an e-mail they found in their inbox, they didn’t believe their eyes. As exciting as it sounded, the e-mail just seemed kind of questionable, but not long after the video was put into production. The video has been out for a few days already now, but in case you haven’t seen it, here it is!

ISA LA Recap

Far East Movement.

After several hours in the sun and nine hours of standing, my body was completely exhausted and my feet were dying but I must say, it was totally worth it. The International Secret Agents Los Angeles (ISA LA) event that took place in Queen Mary on October 1st gathered together the best of the best Asian YouTube stars you could think of plus other top-selling mainstream artists: Far East Movement, B.o.B, Sean Kingston, Jay Park, Wong Fu Productions, AJ Rafael, David Choi, Kevin Wu (KevJumba), Ryan Higa (NigaHiga), Clara C, Cathy Nguyen, and the list goes on. A year ago my cousin introduced me to them and I’ve been hooked ever since. In fact, I’m listening to their songs right now while I’m writing this so you can imagine how excited I was for the event.

Post by Shirley • July 15, 2011 • Post a comment

What’s there to do during the dreaded Carmageddon weekend? I know some people are opting to stay home so they’re not stuck on the roads all day, but this is the worst week to do it! There’s a lot (and I mean A LOT) of food, drinking and live music in this week’s lineup of events. So fight the traffic for a bit this weekend — it’ll be well worth the drive.

Asian Vegetarian Food & Culture Tour™

When: Friday, July 15, 2:45 pm

Where: NYC Chinatown Tourism Kiosk, 220 Canal Street, Manhattan, NY, 10013

How: Purchase tickets online for $49 (plus a $2.21 convenience fee).

Travel through China in just one day and experience what it offers when it comes to delicacies and home cooked meals. Indulge in barbecue (roasted duck and pork), wonton soup, dim sum(roasted pork bun, or fried sesame ball), Cantonese beef jerky, teas, scallion pancakes and dumplings filled with meats, seafood, and veggies. It’s great to go as a group or on a first date!
