On March 22nd and 23rd, stylists filed in one by one to Space 905 for the Simply Stylist Event, organized by Caro Marketing. Here, celebrity stylists, bloggers and magazine editors came to view the collections and meet some of the rising designers. The chic guests, which included two-time Emmy Award winning costume designer Soyon An and fashion blogger Jenny Wu, chatted with designers and representatives of different brands to get a better understanding of each line from which they could feature or pull pieces.

An was there to pull pieces for the contestants on American Idol. She was featured in our Winter 2010 issue for her amazing styling and costume design, which won her Emmys in 2009 and 2010. Wu, who writes The Good, The Bad and the Fabulous blog, attended as well. She works as a young fashion lawyer, but when she’s not working, she’s blogging away like the fashion police. (And I love her motto: “Work hard, shop harder.”)

I also spotted Diana Chan, a stylist who has styled for Audrey Magazine, as well as the likes of Lindsay Price, Macy Gray, Kelly Hu, and many more. She was also a costumer for Dancing with the Stars.

At the studio, six booths were set up: Brose, Agave Denim, Vanessa Leu, Alexandra Cipriani, Razan Alazzouni and Caro Marketing, which had designs from Paul & Joe, Plastic Island, Aryn K., Hobo International, Fleet Jewelry, Meghan and Jenny Han to name a few. From avant-garde couture leather designs to casual denim lines, the event had every style of clothing you may be looking for. Razan Alazzouni, the event’s featured designer, is a talented 24-year-old Saudi Arabian designer whose line is very feminine and delicate with intricate details. Agave Denim focuses on having high quality material and is expanding their women’s line. Alexandra Cipriani works with any type of leather to create two collections: a ready-to-wear and a couture line. Brose is based in Canada, and is a relatively new designer: her Spring and Fall 2011 lines are her second and third collections, respectively. The pieces are also very feminine: some more simplistic and some more detailed with beading. Caro Marketing covered a wide variety of clothing and accessories because of all the designers it carries.

As for Vanessa Leu, she is a self-taught jewelry designer originally from Taiwan. Her collection conveys a Zen inspired “East meets West” theme. She designs her jewelry with a particular meaning in mind for each individual piece. According to her bio, she uses “gemstones to inspire an inward as well as outward beauty.” Her work has been seen on Grey’s Anatomy and Heroes, and has earned her the title of JCK’s 2010 Rising Star.
