There are really only two times a year when you can go really crazy without raising any eyebrows: Halloween and New Year’s.

If you missed one chance to get yourself tricked out, treat yourself this coming NYE. Take a cue from the spring runways and try a pop of color in your makeup palette. Just a swipe on the eyes or a dab on the lips will make you stand out (no black light needed).

The easiest way to freshen up your look is with a new lip color. The hottest looks on the spring runways were a shade more fuschia or tangerine. Just keep it matte-ish and your look will look fresh, not dated.

Eugenia Mandzhieva in Elliot Atkinson.
Liu Wen in Loewe.

If you skew more classic, pair a matte red pout with a wash of pale peach on the lids:

If you like to keep your eyes the focus, take a cue from the pretty washes of pastel seen all over the runways. Line in black to keep it edgy.

A combo of pastel shades looks so pretty on tawny complexions:

Lakshmi Menon in Michael Kors.

Lavender makes Asian eyes glow:

If you’re more the experimental type, try a pop of color on an otherwise nude face.

Shu Pei in Giles.

Wanna try it? Hard Candy makes it easy with its Intensifeye shadow sticks. You can layer on for a more intense look, or go easy for just a sheer wash. At $6 a pop, you can’t lose.
