Steven Yuen Reverses Yellow Fever
Post by Florence • November 15, 2011 • Post a comment

Let’s face it; since WongFu came out with “Yellow Fever,” it appears to be a known assumption that Asian males just don’t get the girl, whether it be the cutely exotic Asian or the hot White chick.

Especially on prime time television, we rarely see an interracial relationship of an Asian male and Caucasian female.

However, on the November 6 episode of Walking Dead, Steven Yeun gave Prime Time a pill to prevent Yellow Fever from spreading any further.  Yeun’s stereotype breaking character, Glenn, hooked up with Maggie, the attractive white female that Glenn has been lusting after.  According to an interview on AMC, this wasn’t his first on-scene love-scene, but won’t mind if viewers count it as his first one. Check below for video:

Cheese! Outtakes From ‘A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas’ Screening
Post by Janice • November 14, 2011 • Post a comment

Who likes red carpet pictures where the celebs are just smiling and posing prettily? Boring!

KoreAm and Audrey caught some great outtakes from the red carpet and we’re here to share it with you. Cheers (and cheese!) to all the hair tosses, funny faces and magical moments captured in between each flash.

So nice when the film stars actually like each other. John Cho and Kal Penn look like they’re having so much fun together, I wanna join in! (And totally not because they’re John Cho and Kal Penn…) Continue Reading »

Spraying Away The Hunger
Post by Florence • November 10, 2011 • Post a comment

We’ve all used spray devices as ways to get rid of things we do not want: from bugs and bites to unwelcome odors. Now, in China, sprays are being used to get rid of something that we all experience: hunger.

So, who doesn’t want hunger?  On October30th in Beijing, China, International Fashion Week kicked off with the “Tang-Jing” Fashion Show in the Golden Hall of Beijing Hotel.

There was a lot of spraying going on backstage, from hair to perfume, but there was one spray that was not allowed.  On the backstage curtain read a sign in both English and Chinese, “Models must eat before going on runway. Spraying your hunger away is not enough!”

The spray they are referring to is SENSASLIM, which is being described as a dieter’s dream, and an easy way to lose weight without ever feeling hungry.  With its slogan, “nothing tastes as good as slim feels”, it is no surprise that the sign was posted this year by organizers concerned about the spray.  Their concerns stem from a repeat incident last year where a model collapsed on the catwalk from lack of energy brought about by food deprivation.

Norwegian model, Erjana Ala, discovered the Sensaslim spray in her native Norway where it has recently been released.

“The other girls saw me spray it, and now everyone is wanting it,” Ala said.  “It isn’t in China yet, so the girls are buying it on the internet and getting it sent by courier.  It’s crazy how everyone is asking me where they can get it.”

Sensaslim Research Director Dr. Sommerville said Sensaslim is administered three times a day, by two sprays onto the tongue, ten minutes before meals, and should not be used instead of food entirely.

“Sensaslim was not designed for the underweight or normal weighted people but for those who are overweight or obese and need to lose large amount of weight,” he said.  “We would not encourage models to use it more than once a day as it is may work too well.”

Post by Janice • November 09, 2011 • Post a comment

Celebs came out to celebrate Audrey’s Fashion Night Out this year and we made sure to ask them the tough questions.

Thinkers like “would you rather be good looking or a good dresser” and “what’s your biggest vice?”

Some gave heartwarming answers (PK Kim said, “a good personality” Aww…) and others were random fun (Jack Yang wants to go naked!)

Find out the rest below.

Audrey Asks: Would you rather be good looking or a good dresser?

Girl About Town Chomps into Little Bites, Lots of Flavor
Post by han • November 06, 2011 • Post a comment

My girlfriend Carolyn and I got invited to a media dinner at Osaka, a sleek new Peruvian Asian fusion restaurant on Hollywood Boulevard. It’s a wonderfully classic and elegant place to go to for an extravagant girls night out or a quiet evening with your family. You can sit at the bar, the main room, or the garden terrace, depending on the kind of ambiance you’re looking for.

The Main Bar. Photo Credit: Lisa C. on Yelp

The menu focuses on traditional Peruvian ingredients blended with Asian flavors from Japan, Thailand, and China. The resulting dishes are an array of innovative ceviches, tiraditos, robata, and signature entrées. The thing about menus at places like this is most of the time A. I don’t know what half the food really is (and I can only guess at what it will taste like) and B. I want to eat everything. What the heck is a tiradito?  Is nikkei a kind of fish?  And can I try everything on your menu?

For those of you out there who are as indecisive and hungry as I am, I’ve put together this mini guidebook of sorts for you to refer to if you ever stop by this savvy new joint.

This Week’s Happenings 11.5-11.13

Seriously Mr. Calendar, how is it already November?  You’re forgiven; though I may be a bit biased over November, because it is: my birthday month, the start of cozy holidays, and the beginning of Holiday Happenings.
