Geography of Hate: Racism Mapped Out Based on Tweets
Researchers from the Floating Sheep Project have used Twitter to locate racist and homophobic tweets in the United States and have plotted them on an interactive map. Students at Humboldt State University looked at 150,000 tweets containing slurs from June 2012 to April 2013. The students carefully observed each tweet to determine if the word was being used in a positive or negative light and created the Geography of Hate.
