So much drama, so much excitement. Tons of medals, disqualifications, trash talking, tragedy, victory. The Vancouver Olympics is practically the best thing on TV right now.
And both Asian Americans and Asians in general are making headlines left and right. Did you see figure skaters Yu-Na Kim, Mao Asada and American Mirai Nagasu do their short program the other day? Amazing.
Well, the excitement continues tonight as Chinese American Julie Chu goes for gold with the U.S. women’s hockey team against Canada (yikes!). This is an important game for women’s hockey, but also for Chu and her entire family. After the Torino Olympics, all of Chu’s family members got tattoos of the Olympic rings with her number (13). Who knows what they’ll do if she wins gold tonight! Catch it on NBC.
And the must-anticipated long program for figure skaters Kim, Asada and Nagasu is also on tonight! Kim and Asada are currently in first and second place, respectively, and Nagasu in sixth. (Nagasu skated with such fervor, her nose started bleeding halfway through her short program!)
But don’t write off Nagasu yet. Anything can happen in this most fickle of sports. Talk about a nail biter!
(Kudos to Panasonic for flying Nagasu’s parents in last minute so they could watch their little girl compete!)
