The beauty looks from New York Fashion Week keep rolling in. And with most of the country still swathed in chilly weather, now’s the perfect time to experiment with the looks models wore down the runway last week.
My favorite is M*A*C’s face chart for Peter Som. Super spiky eyelashes, a shimmery golden eye and vampy lips for an “uptown girl meets Woodstock” look, according to makeup artist Tom Pecheaux. It’s so easy to do and a refreshing change from spring’s pastel profusion.
I’m also obsessed with the textured, glam rock-inspired lips seen on the Doo.ri runway. With textured nails the new rage (clumpy glitter layered over a bright base coat), I can so see doing textured lips for holiday. Just layer contrasting glitter over your favorite lipstick. Pecheaux used M*A*C pro glitter in turquoise over matte lipstick in Ruby Woo, with a dollop of silver glitter in the center of the lip.
Makeup artist Stevie Huynh went galactic at Prabal Gurung while still managing to incorporate the perennial crowd-pleasing classic, matte red lips. “The look has an android feel, surreal skin with a matte, minimalist red lip,” says Huynh. He updated the look with neutral gloss on the lid. So chic.
Continuing the android theme is Jason Wu’s minimal look. A clean face with just a shot of liquid metal gold or silver on the lids. So cool.
If futuristic shine is not for you, you might like Alexander Wang who looked back in time, focusing on a reddish brown smoky eye, inspired by Kate Moss circa early ’90s. (Now that it’s a new decade, look for designers to do major ’90s redux, both in fashion and beauty.)
