Comic creators Audra Ann Furuichi and Scott Yoshinaga has released their fifth volume of collected comics in celebration of the fifth anniversary of their anime-style online comic, nemu*nemu. The fifth volume is titled nemu*nemu: Out of this World and features never-before-seen, full color, cuter-than-cute artwork, as well as previously unreleased author commentary.
nemu*nemu is a webcomic that is published three times a week via the nemu*nemu website. The story follows the life of two pups, Nemu and Anpan, and their adventures in a magical world with their two owners, Anise Kurobo and Kana Mezurashi. Since the webcomic’s debut in 2006, nemu*nemu’s special blend of island influences and super-cute anime drawing style has been steadily gaining fans with each release.
Furuichi is an independent cartoonist and this will mark her fourth year as a full-time artist. “Being a self-published comic artist means you really have to think out of the box to make the business work,” says Furuichi. “The industry can be very challenging, but I’m fortunate that this one time hobby has developed such a dedicated fan base over the past few years that I am now able to pursue this profession entirely, without distraction, and with passion.”
