Bollywood fans, rejoice! Karan Johar’s much-anticipated film My Name is Khan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, is out in theaters today!

Based on a true story, the film follows Rizvan Kahn, a Muslim Indian with Asperger’s Syndrome (a mild form of autism). He finds the love of his life, Mandira, in San Francisco, but when tragedy strikes after 9/11 — and the way the world looked at Islam thereafter — Kahn goes on an epic journey to recover what was lost.

It’s a love story, but it’s a lot more, too. The film addresses disabilities, but “it’s not about a disabled man’s fight against disability,” said Johar in an interview in 2009. “It’s a disabled man’s fight against the disability that exists in the world — terrorism, hatred, fighting.” There’s even someone playing President Barack Obama in the film!

Khan was shot extensively in the United States (even the UCLA campus), and is being released by Fox Searchlight Pictures, and you know it’s gotta be good because they’ve released hits such as The Namesake, Bend it Like Beckham, Water, and the Academy Award winner Slumdog Millionaire.

Check out some behind-the-scenes photos from the film.
