You know a designer is established when you search for LA Fashion Week events and see that her name is singled out with her own private invite-only event and not jumbled into a series of other fashion shows. I’m talking about Sue Wong. Her work never ceases to amaze me – she really has an eye for great taste and elegance. I’m not really the type who goes for dresses with beading and ruffles but when they look so graceful like Sue Wong’s, I will definitely make an exception. She really goes on to perfect every little detail.

On October 13th, Sue Wong presented her Spring 2012 collection – Lady or Vamp – at Voyeur in West Hollywood. Similar to last season, she chose a more intimate venue where everyone was free to network and catch up with old friends while meeting new ones. Models would walk around and pose for photos but it was in a more interactive way compared to a normal runway show.

As usual, I loved the pieces that were in more traditional colors like rose, white and black but I especially enjoyed the vibrant colors that were brought into the collection. Bright yellows and reds were seen on the models, which was very fun and cheerful – the way I think Spring should be. The styling was also very dramatic with the jewels on the models’ foreheads along with feather headpieces. Sue Wong really has a unique and distinct style that makes her a great designer. She was able to give range while still staying true to herself, which I think is very admirable.
