Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 is here! It kicked off on Thursday, October 13 with Concept LA Fashion Week and it will end on Sunday, October 23 with LA Fashion Weekend at the Sunset Gower Studios. You can see all the LA Fashion Week events here. Just so you get a better idea of what to expect, we thought we’d share some highlights from the events we attended last season!

CONCEPT LA FW11

Thai Nguyen Presents The Last Falling Leaf:
I had the privilege to view Thai Nguyen’s debut runway show in March as part of the Concept LA Fashion Week shows. His collection consisted of a variety of dresses that ranged from casual wear to wedding dresses. He drew his inspiration from the song “The Last Falling Leaf,” hence his collection title, and I could see his concept from the flowy, light material that moved as the models walk down the runway. STYLE LA FW11

First up, I want to mention how gorgeous the Vibiana is – that’s where Style LA was held. Every night, one to two designers showcased their work. Style LA covered a range of styles from Stop Staring!’s 40′s inspired collection, to Future Heretics’ harder, edgier line. Other designers include: Gypsy 05 and Ina Soltani. The Go Red for Women fashion show featured celebrities wearing red dresses in support of research and cure for women’s heart disease. (Apparently one in every three women suffer from heart disease – eeks! Take care of yourself ladies!) The fashion shows were an amazing experience overall and I enjoyed every moment of it. See this season’s Style LA line-up here!

SUE WONG PRESENTS MY FAIR LADY

I was blown away at this event. The venue, the Cedars, was breathtaking to start with, then there was Sue Wong‘s collection, which was simply gorgeous. All the gowns looked so carefully crafted and the details were just impeccable. I must say, I’m a fan! Can’t wait for the day when I can tell people I’m wearing Sue Wong. I loved how the event was at a more intimate setting that allowed us to meet other attendees and gave us a chance to look at the collection close-up.

All the above mentioned collections are available for purchase now! And look out for recaps on LAFW SS12 events coming soon!
