Need a boost? How about a new ‘do?
We noticed it first when designer Phillip Lim sent his models down his Fall 2009 runway donning bowl cut wigs. Hmm. Kinda cool.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a model from Japan named Tao Okamoto walked practically every runway. The adrogynous, bowl-cut topped model donned tweeds and furs at Ralph Lauren, quirky separates at United Bamboo, and sparkling minis at Emilio Pucci.
Now there’s no denying it. Tao and her bowl cut continued her catwalk reign during the Spring 2010 shows. But then we noticed … hey, isn’t that model Emma Pei? Sans long, flowing locks? And Ai Tominaga with the cutest pixie cut?
And — gasp! — Du Juan, the ballerina-turned-model of all things glam! Even she did the chop.
But nothing convinced us more of how this fabulous runway style translates into real life until we were browsing Facebook one day and saw this …
That’s former Audrey intern Miri Shin with her new ‘do! How amazing does she look! “I’ve wanted the cut for a long time,” says Miri, “but never had the guts to do it. And one day I just did it and I love it!”
It’s a ‘do sported by Korean girl band Jewelry’s Seo In Young.
We love! But do we dare …
