It may have taken a while to convert, but in recent months, I have become an admitted accessories fiend. Though I used to shy away from jewelry, handbags and the like, in recent years, I’ve found myself scouring shops and the internet looking to add to my ever-growing collection. Not helping my new found addiction, the trends predicted for this upcoming fall are ones that are exciting, yet accessible and can easily help update any fall wardrobe.
Check out some of the trends to look out for this fall after the cut!
GET A HANDLE ON IT
Top-handle bags, as seen on the runways of Marni, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada, will emerge as the new “it bag,” or rather, “it silhouette” for handbags this upcoming fall. For added functionality, find a purse with an added cross-body strap.
The popular trend of statement necklaces is continuing to hold strong through the fall season. Keep your outfit balanced by coupling these necklaces with an abstract print in a clean silhouette (a la Lanvin) or with a basic color scheme, letting the necklace be the focal point.
LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS
Take a cue from menswear (and from designers like Marc Jacobs and Dries Van Noten) and invest in a pair of male-inspired footwear. These oxfords, smoking shoes and brogues in interesting colors, textures and fabrics are the perfect combination of comfort, practicality and trend.
