Fall 2012 may be months away, but we, here at Audrey, can’t wait to feel the texture of wool, knits, and tweed on our skin again. This is why we’re so excited to tell you about a fall collection from the luxury brand Paul & Joe and its more affordable line Paul & Joe Sister. Our observation of what’s to come for fall trends were supported when we went through the racks of clothes from autumn collection yesterday on Robertson Blvd. We were pleased to see chunky knitted sweaters, leather bottoms and tops, cute and exotic prints, and suits filled the shiny silver racks. As well-groomed ladies came sauntering into the store, a DJ in the corner was spinning lively music while a server walked around the store holding a silver tray of hors d’oeuvres and a bartender in the back mixed pink martinis. The mood of the event was perfectly set making it easier and a more pleasant evening for us to get a sneak preview of Paul & Joe’s Autumn collection.

The fall season for Paul & Joe is a season that captures the essence of a traditional English. There were tweed and heavy duty outerwear and newsboy hats. Plaid and printed trousers, monochromatic suits (think of muted colors of orange, green, and brown), chunky knitted boyfriend cardigans, similar to what our grandfathers wore, and lots of printed blouses and button down shirts. Leather accented and all leather jackets and tops, lavish velvets, shiny embellished pieces, and flower prints were also part of the collection. It seems as if fall is going to be a season full of big, statement outfits and head-to-toe looks.
For most of us big and out there printed pants and tops, plaid and velvet suits, and glimmering clothing may be intimidating and we might try to avoid wearing it completely. However, it doesn’t have to look too gaudy if you pair each of the pieces with other fall friendly, or even light summer pieces. It’s really just about mixing and matching a simple outfit with one bold piece. For example, you could pair a printed blouse with a one-colored pants or a printed dress with a leather jacket for a date night or a night out with your girls.
