Cupcake & Cookie: Sweet Treats

It’s incredible to look back on the past couple of years and see how much the cupcake has really infiltrated our lives.

The cupcakes shop Sprinkles is everywhere. Cupcake birthday cakes. Cupcake wedding cakes. Cupcakes on a lonely Friday night. Cupcakes after a full day of shopping. Cupcakes on a rainy day.

But take this for a spin: imagine getting a scrumptious box of cupcakes delivered to your door by a princess.

Yep, this is what you get when you purchase cupcakes from Cupcake & Cookie, a dessert delivery and catering service started by Food Network’s Cupcake Wars winner Dorothy Tong (Dorothy is also one of Audrey‘s resident dessert bloggers! See here, here, here and here.)

Cupcake & Cookie‘s sugary delights address the one thing that I dislike about desserts in general — when they’re too sweet. You know that kind of sweet where your teeth are numb for hours after? Doesn’t happen with these sweets. (Er, shall I say, less sweets.)

I got to taste some of the company’s star items one fine sunny day. Here’s what I have to say.

Raspberry White Chocolate: moist raspberry cupcake made with fresh raspberries and silky white chocolate frosting

The rasberry white chocolate cupcake was a burst of sweet and tart flavors to my tongue.  A bite of cake and a bite of frothy frosting and I was conjuring up images of my 5th birthday — the pinkness of the cake made me nostalgic!

Cupcake & Cookie is not merely relegated to its namesake, no sirree. There’s also plenty of other concoctions. I tried some of the cake pops (one is with pineapple filling inside and the other is chocolate yumminess).

Feng Li Shu pop: Taiwanese pineapple pastry dipped in white chocolate and presented as a pop

The pops crumbled in my mouth and was devoured within a couple of seconds. Yet, somehow it lingered in my tummy for a long while. Interesting …

Green Tea Mochi: fluffy green tea cupcake filled with mochi bits and topped with matcha green tea frosting and mochi

My favorite out of the bunch would have to be this green tea mochi cupcake-created especially for the Audrey shoot for our Summer ’11 issue (get it here!)

Oh … my … goodness … this cupcake melts, literally melts, in your mouth!

Light, fluffy with a hint of our beloved green tea flavor, this cupcake is a definite must-order from Cupcake & Cookie. You’ll love how the mochi melds with the frosting and the cake and you’ll be glad you ordered a whole box of these babies!

If you’re throwing a party for someone, throwing a party for yourself or not even throwing a party, try an order from Cupcake & Cookie. More details on site here.
