Sho Kashima was an Olympic hopeful in freestyle skiing/moguls, but after suffering a knee injury two weeks ago, he won’t be going to Vancouver next month. But the 23-year-old is definitely someone to keep an eye on, so here’s a little info about him.

Sho Kashima.

He had career-bests in the 2008-2009 World Cup moguls, putting him second among Americans, only behind Michael Morse. He’s a two-time U.S. champion in dual moguls (2006 and 2009) and places sixth in the 2009 World Championships.

Born in Texas and raised in Lake Tahoe, Sho began skiing at the age of 4. He began tackling moguls at 11, and today he is known for his aerial maneuvers, like his signature Cork 1080, which consists of three off-axis spins.
Other factoids about Sho:

* He loves poker, golf, baseball and exotic cars

* His favorite designer is Ralph Lauren. (Ralph Lauren Polo is one of his sponsors.)

* Loves beef of all kinds, from Porterhouse steak to beef tacos.

* He brings a football everywhere he travels. He’s a huge Texas Longhorns fan.
