J.Crew and denim company Goldsign collaborate for the first time – and produce a must-have collection for denim lovers alike.
The collaboration features three fits: “Jeane” – a feminine, sexy, high-waist American jean; “Jenny” – a slim leg, classic, 5-pocket, high-waist jean with cuff; “Holly” – a timeless 1950’s high-waist pencil skirt; ranging in price from $198 to $288. The washes vary in authentic vintages, pure indigos, and soft pastels and the fabrics and trims were designed with the modern woman’s lifestyle in mind. “This collection was inspired by a flight from New York to Los Angeles as Goldschmied read the Marilyn by Andre de Dienes book. He became mesmerized by an image of Norma Jeane Baker – young and fresh – a natural beauty. She was honest, sincere, full of energy, and motivated to succeed…dressed in red, white, and blue (jeans); she was the epitome of the “American Dream” of the 1950s.”

You would think that after Alexandra Wallace’s ”Asians in the Library” stunt, people would know better than to insult the strong Asian community. Wallace was met with such angry and passionate reactions that it simply doesn’t seem logical for anyone else to follow in her footsteps.
Well this guy doesn’t seem to get it. Already getting the attention of many, this fellow has been dubbed the “Male Alexandra Wallace” for his racist comments about Asians. Some people are suggesting that this is a joke, but let’s be real- joke or not, this is just another example of ignorance. Watch the video below and tell us what you think:

If there’s one Asian stereotype we’re all very familiar with, its Asian hair. No one knows when this actually happened, but at one point people began thinking that all Asian women had the same kind of hair- straight, black, and very sleek. This myth has become so well known that theres actually something called “Japanese hair straightening” to try and get these hair qualities. Its not uncommon to flip through a magazine and come across an article showcasing different types of hair and as expected, “Asian hair” get its very own section. Do some of us have sleek, black, and straight hair? Of course. Do all of us have this? Absolutely not. People may be shocked to discover that just like everyone else, Asian’s are not all born with the same kind of hair (What!?) So let’s break the Asian myth with some familiar faces. One could argue that Tamlyn Tomita’s Kumiko was the ultimate Asian American high school “girl-next-door” crush, even if, back in 1986, the Karate Kid had to travel all the way to Japan to be in the right neighborhood. But in the past 25 years, there have many memorable Asian American girls – as well as British Asians, Asian-Scots and Asian Canadians that we snuck onto the list — that we can look up to (or reminisce with) in these classic tales of high school.

The Huntresses’ Kang Ye Won, Ha Ji Won, and Ga In (of Brown Eyed Girls).
This is the kind of genre that Ha Ji Won is meant to do: she’s undoubtedly one of South Korea’s best female action stars. I’ve always enjoyed her in comedies more (there’s something about her that shines through in comedic type roles). In the first teaser trailer for The Huntresses, she plays the leader to a trio of bounty hunters, set in the Joeson Era. Kang Ye Won (El Condor Pasa) plays the housewife who’d rather use her kitchen knives for fighting off bad guys and Son Ga In (of Kpop girl group Brown Eyed Girls) plays the youngest member, the best fighter of the the three. The movie comes out in May, but hope this teaser trailer will hold you until then!

How do you celebrate your love for your favorite idol member? Jewelry, flowers, chocolate? In Asia, it’s well known that the fan culture is a bit on the extreme side. So when you’re celebrating a popular leader’s upcoming 25th birthday – you’ve got to go out with a big bang. An image surfaced on an online community forum which featured a billboard of Taeyeon on a public bus in Seoul. The billboard was a congratulatory message (“Congratulations on Taeyeon′s 25th birthday. 20130309. We congratulated Taeyeon′s 25th spring. Happy Taeyone Day.”) for Taeyeon’s upcoming birthday (it’s on March 9th), which was bought by fans.

Last Friday, Japanese cosmetics company Shiseido announced they would stop selling animal-tested cosmetics, going in effect in April. This decision was due to the fact that the European Union is on it’s way to finalizing their decision on banning such products by the end of March. Since Europe is a big market for the company, Shiseido will use other means to prove their products are safe (human volunteers, other forms of tests, previous test data). However, Shiseido says they will still sell animal-tested products if animal testing is the only way to prove the products are safe or some products require animal testing.
