Make sure you’re near a computer or your Blackberry on Friday, August 12. The Center for the Pacific Asian Family (CPAF) needs your help in winning a new Toyota Sienna minivan! L.A.-based CPAF helps survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and is competing with other nonprofits in Toyota’s “100 Cars for Good” contest on Facebook. Over the course of 100 days, the Japanese motor company is giving away 100 new cars.
The new car will help CPAF transport those trying to escape from their violent homes to CPAF’s shelters, take survivors to necessary medical and legal appointments, and also help families start a fresh life in a new home and away from their abusers. So what do you have to do, exactly? On August 12, sign in to your Facebook account, visit this app and cast your vote — it’s that simple! CPAF will be up against four other nonprofits, so make sure you get all of your friends and family to vote. It’s a one-day-only voting, so don’t miss it. Want to put in a bit of extra effort? The Asian Professional Exchange (APEX) is joining forces with CPAF in spreading the word, and they need all the help they can get. APEX is organizing a “Get Out the Vote” campaign at Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (1102 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90010) from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Bring a group of friends, stake out with your phones and laptops and contact everyone in your phone book, telling them to vote.
