A few months ago, I got to sit down and chat with Booboo Stewart – Boy Wonder of our Winter ’11-12 issue – to find out more about him and his experiences. He was super nice and humble; the whole time we were just smiling and laughing while he enjoyed his plate of nachos and I sipped on my Earl Grey tea. We started with a quick round of questions about his preferences before we got to the more serious questions.
Liu Wen’s modeling career really skyrocketed last year when she signed with Estee Lauder and became the first East Asian model to ever walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, but her success doesn’t stop there. With the most booked shows for the recent New York Fashion Week, you know we had to include Liu Wen in our Best of 2011 models. I was first introduced to Thai Nguyen’s work eight months ago at his debut fashion show in March. Back then, he established himself as a designer who creates flowy light-weight dresses so I expected his Spring 2012 collection to be similar. On October 15th, I attended Thai Nguyen’s 2nd runway show for Concept LA Fashion Week and I was certainly surprised by his new collection.
You know a designer is established when you search for LA Fashion Week events and see that her name is singled out with her own private invite-only event and not jumbled into a series of other fashion shows. I’m talking about Sue Wong. Her work never ceases to amaze me – she really has an eye for great taste and elegance. I’m not really the type who goes for dresses with beading and ruffles but when they look so graceful like Sue Wong’s, I will definitely make an exception. She really goes on to perfect every little detail.
When you walk in a club, you don’t want to be that awkward one just standing there not knowing what to do. But if you seriously have no clue how exactly to dance in a club, Ashley (ashleyslips), a Filipina comedian on YouTube, has got you covered. Watch Ashley as she demonstrates her club dancing skills in her apartment. You just have to follow these five basic rules and you’ll be all set!
22 months, 1,357 hours, 30 people, 2 ladders, 1 still camera and 288,000 jelly beans. What am I talking about? Kina Grannis‘s new music video – In Your Arms – made entirely of jelly beans. Surely you’ve eaten them, but have you ever seen them animated?
With over 450 guests, NAMI was one of the highest attended shows for Concept Fashion Week this season. Sarah Nami Ahn’s debut runway show in Los Angeles surely attracted a lot of attention and it’s not surprising to see why. Her collection encompasses the current and forthcoming trends while incorporating her own unique taste, making her one of the top emerging designers.
