Wrapping up New York Fashion Week a couple weeks ago, we thought we’d do a round-up of the Asian models that made the most appearance on the runway this season. According to a news report, Asian models walked in more big shows this season than ever before. “It’s just in their DNA. They’re beautiful, so elegant. Beautiful on the runway, beautiful walkers, beautiful body types — it’s a dream to see them in our clothes,” states Mark Badgley of Badgley Mischka. Among the models that have walked the most shows, we have both familiar and new faces. Familiar faces include Liu Wen, Ming Xi, Shu Pei and So Young Kang. For new and upcoming models, we have Lina Zhang, Sung Hee, Sui He, Tian Yi and Xiao Wen.
Once again, Liu Wen is the Asian model to walk the most shows at NYFW – most of them for big names too, such as Alexander Wang, Anna Sui, Diane Von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, Oscar de la Renta, Victoria Beckham, and the list goes on.

Even after 17 cycles, I still closely follow America’s Next Top Model (ANTM). Sure every week, every cycle, the girls go through hair and make-up, do photo shoots, walk the runway and the routine repeats over and over again, but something about the transformation the girls go through in the competition as models draws me in even after so many years. What always frustrated me though was the lack of Asian faces – seriously, I can probably count them up with just five fingers – so I was very excited when I heard about MYX TV’s new reality series Supermodel Me, which features ten aspiring female models of Asian descent fighting for their dream to become a supermodel and win the grand prize.
The reality TV show, which was shot in Singapore, premiered on MYX TV on February 15th. The contestants come from a variety of heritage backgrounds such as Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, Korean, Thai and Filipina. The models may be Asian, but the show appeals to anyone interested in viewing the glamorous and demanding world of fashion. “Our goal is to position Supermodel Me as an arena to showcase our Asian capabilities yet still appeal to a global audience with the input from international guests and judges,” said Karen Seah, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Refinery Media.
Catch Supermodel Me every Wednesdays on MYX TV at 10:30pm.
It’s here! – doo.ri for Impulse only at Macy’s! Doo-Ri Chung’s designs have been seen on First Lady Michelle Obama as well as on the runways at New York Fashion Week, and now they can now be yours at a very affordable price! Earlier this week on Wednesday, the award-winning designer launched her first collection for Macy’s. Chung’s elegant draping techniques and modern feminine style are translated into pieces that are priced on average from $39-$159. Offering a collection in her signature style but at a different price point allows her to reach a wider audience, which the designer thinks is great! The pieces in the collection range from jersey dresses to sweaters and outerwear.
Chung, a graduate of Parsons: The New School of Design, is an established designer known for her technical brilliance and iconic draping abilities. She has quickly established her brand in the industry since the launch of her debut collection and has been recognized as one of America’s top designers. Chung was named a finalist in the first-ever Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF) back in 2004, and in 2006, won the Samsung Fashion Design Fund Award, CFDA Swarovski/Perry Ellis Award for Emerging Design Talent and the CVFF grand prize. She was also the first American designer to be nominated for Switzerland’s Stella Award.
Read on for our exclusive interview with Doo-Ri Chung to find out more about her and what she has to say about her new collection for Macy’s.

A month ago, DANakaDAN x afterschoolspecial released their music video for DREAMERS. The video, produced by Scott Yoshimoto and Daniel J. Seo of The Dreamlapse Project, featured many cameos by your favorite YouTube stars from Ryan Higa and Joseph Vincent to Jason Chen and David Choi. We wanted to find out more about this huge collaboration so I contacted DANakaDAN, Scott and Daniel to see what they have to say about this project.
First we have DANakaDAN:
Audrey Magazine (AM): Tell me how the collaboration started.
DANakaDAN (D): We started about… 11 months ago. Scott and I have worked on a video before and we wanted to do another project. DREAMERS has always been the song I’ve wanted to do a video for and I wanted to do it right, so I asked Scott and we started to work on it. Continue Reading »
On the night of Friday, January 20th, the much anticipated premiere of the Wonder Girls’ self-titled movie was held at the CGV Cinemas along with the debut of their 3-D video for their new single “The DJ is Mine.” Before I even arrived to work the red carpet, screaming fans were already gathered by the cinema waiting for their idols Yenny, Yubin, Sun, Sohee and Lim. First to step onto the red carpet though was the School Gyrls, followed by Booboo and Fivel Stewart, Wes Aderhold, J.Y. Park, Nick Cannon and more. As the Wonder Girls made their appearance, every minute you would hear screams of “I love you _____ (insert one or more of the girls’ names here)!”
I got a chance to ask the girls a few quick questions about the TeenNick project and how it’s been entering the US market.

Only two more days until Jason Wu for Target launches to the public! A few lucky ones were able to catch a glimpse of the collection beforehand at a private launch event on January 26th in New York City. The luckiest one of all though was DJ Harley Viera-Newton. Prior the event, she was personally styled by the man of the night in a peach shirt-dress that Jason describes as “fun, chic and feminine.” Harley “[loved] the color and the peter-pan collar” of the dress and said, “It’s very my style.”
