Forever 21 Steals Songs As Well
Post by Janice • August 18, 2011 • Post a comment

Sigh…seems like fashion designers are not the only people Forever 21 is stealing from.

Singer-songwriter David Choi was surprised to find lyrics from his song, “That Girl,” embossed on a Forever 21 tee-shirt.

“I’m disappointed that Forever 21 [because I felt] like they didn’t have to ask permission to use my lyrics in their commercial product, but I’m also flattered at the same time,” the Youtube star told Audrey Magazine.

Well, those are good lyrics. Check out the music video for “That Girl” below and see if you can spot the stolen words.

Forever 21, when will you stop?! We also wonder, how does hearing about these copyright issues affect your impression of the fast fashion mega-brand? Let us know below!

Fast fashion mega-brand Forever 21 is under fire again for producing designs a little too similar to original pieces by other designers.

Amy Anderson’s Daughter is New Baby Lily on ‘Modern Family’
Post by Janice • August 12, 2011 • Post a comment

We’re pretty outspoken about our love for Baby Lily, played by twin baby actresses Jaden and Ella Hiller on the hit sitcom, Modern Family.

So while we are going to miss them now that EW has revealed the show has cast the 4-year-old daughter of Korean American comedienne and longtime Audrey favorite, Amy Anderson, we are super excited by this casting news!

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons will now take over for the role of Lily, the adopted Vietnamese daughter of Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet).

Showrunner Steve Levitan lauded the child actress, calling her a “natural.”

“She really enjoys the process,” Levitan said, “And she looks just like Jaden and Ella! When we had her do a scene, she sounded natural — not like a cutesy kid actor.”

Sounds like Aubrey’s going to have an amazing time on Modern Family!

Check out KoreAm Journal’s 2009 feature story on Amy and other single KA ladies.

What do you think about the new Lily?

Video of the Week: Ross Ching’s ‘Running on Empty’
Post by Janice • August 08, 2011 • Post a comment

When LA closed down one of its major freeways in mid-July, many Los Angelenos were–in this order– freaked out, surprised, relieved and ecstatic about how nice it was to face the city traffic-less.

For those of us still suffering Carmageddon-withdrawals, check out Ross Ching, who also directed the Harry Shum, Jr. short 3 Minutes, re-imagining LA Running on Empty (of cars, that is).

Running on Empty (Revisited) from Ross Ching on Vimeo.

It’s eerie, peaceful and beautiful all at once.

School For Moral Education Or Gold Diggers?
Post by Janice • August 01, 2011 • Post a comment

A recently published article details a school in China where women take classes to learn how to snag a rich man. The school, named the Beijing Moral Education Center for Women, has a class syllabi which includes makeup tips on making one look more attractive and how to tell if a man is lying (about their income?)

As outlandish as it may sound to start a school whose sole purpose is to encourage women to find sugar daddies, I don’t necessarily feel like the entire idea is without its merits.

Ken Jeong Photo Bombs Are Da Bomb
Post by Janice • July 29, 2011 • Post a comment

Ken Jeong has always been up for a good laugh and these GQ shots of him in the August issue photo-bombing a sexy photo shoot are priceless.

Audrey Magazine had a similar idea for a feature on Ken but alas, GQ beat us to the punch. Nonetheless, they are hilarious, entertaining and Ken is a completely worthwhile subject to feature.
