TGIFree Friday Giveaway: Samantha Thavasa Bags
Post by han • July 01, 2011 • Post a comment

Sooo … in my frantic and very pathetic effort to quickly move out of my apartment back East, I accidentally threw a big box of my stuff out. And being me, of course I threw out the box with my camera, iPod, three pairs of heels, and a number of other valuables. I also lost a clutch and a purse … or two.

If I were you, I’d hop on either of these bags before I get on ‘em. Made by Samantha Thavasa and valued at $295 each, nabbing one of these bad boys is the cherry on top to start your banana sundae weekend.

Introducing Girl About Town
Post by han • June 30, 2011 • Post a comment

Han Cho has been working with Audrey Magazine for a little over a year now, sometimes covering the sublime (writing about what it felt like being a part of the Kollaboration Boston production committee, interviewing celebrities), sometimes working on the daily grime (a whole bunch of daily advertorials, blehhh)

But now, Han will be divulging herself a bit more on audreymagazine.com, frequenting LA haunts and musing on life. Let’s give our new Girl About Town, Han Cho a warm welcome as she lets you get to know her a little better.

TGIFree Friday Giveaway: Boom Boom! Cards
Post by han • June 24, 2011 • Post a comment

I remember when I first arrived in Boston, everyone was not as friendly or nice as I was used to. Some people were straight up mean and rude. And as a recent and very naive high school grad, I was appalled.

Maybe if I had had a deck o’ these cards on me, people might have reciprocated my warm smiles and bright thank you’s and sorry’s with more than just a grunt or a dirty look.

MYX TV’s K-Pop TaKeover with Movement Lifestyle & Poreotics
Post by han • June 23, 2011 • Post a comment

A little dancing never hurt anyone.

On the 18th of Saturday, I found myself at the  Beverly Garden Holiday Inn in North Hollywood at the K-Pop TaKover, presented by MYX TV, featuring MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew Season 5 winners Poreotics and Movement Lifestyle. People of all ages, from kids as young as 6 and adults as old as 48, participated in a number of dance workshops, scheduled over the course of two days, to learn and improve their dance techniques. What made this convention unlike any other was the fact that this was the first ever K-Pop convention.

Summer TV Just for You
Post by han • June 22, 2011 • Post a comment

I’ve spent the last week-and-a-half vegetating on my bed, staying up all night from the adrenaline rush I get from the gore and suspense of Dexter. Now that I’ve aced through all five seasons, I have nothing to occupy my now TV-addicted brain. (Whomp Whomp).

Fortunately for it (and maybe not so fortunately for my job hunt), summer has just started, meaning MORE TV!

We got life coaching from a canine, robots in America, and… sexy lawyers. All for you, this summer.

Kollaboration Acoustic 5 Recap
Post by han • June 22, 2011 • Post a comment

If I could sum up my first Kollaboration Acoustic 5 show viewing experience, I would liken it to a mug of vanilla latte with whipped cream.

I have never been to the Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood, so I wasn’t prepared on Friday when I was greeted by a beautiful canopy of palm trees and other greenery that served as the show’s lush background as I got ushered to my seat. The theater was constructed with warm camel stones, inviting the viewer to comfortably enjoy the performance on its smooth even stage. Moody lighting beautifully lit the performers and helped to create the intimate environment, and the house itself felt like we were all seated in a cavernous bowl, a friendly one.

Growing In and Out of “Adultolescence”
Post by han • June 08, 2011 • Post a comment

Being a recent postgrad myself and having moved back home since my plans for summer abroad fell through, I feel somewhat stuck.

Here I am, with an expensive degree, at home, hopelessly looking for a job that will see me through at least the summer. I can’t exactly move out because I don’t have any real funds to sustain me for long, but being at home has made me revert back to a weird “upgraded” (updated?) version of the self I was before I ran off to college on the other side of the continent. I’ve come from cooking my own dinners and cleaning my own bathroom to piling up my laundry for my mom to do while rotting my brain with episodes of Dexter, with intermittent breaks to go to the gym or meet up with friends. Then there are the showdowns I face with my mom as we struggle to one up each other as we argue about curfew, my social habits, or the quality of the clothes I’ve scavenged from thrift stores and sales racks.

It’s tough being in “adultolescence” with a Tiger Mom.

Which is the very conflict directors Vicky Shen and Zoe Bui and producer Eleonore Dailly tackle in their 90-minute film, Adultolescence.
