When in doubt of your makeup, go for color on your lips to either brighten up your face or divert people’s eyes to one part of your face. Putting on a bold color or texture to your lips could also be the perfect touch to a simple and neutral face palette.
The season of bright colors may be slowly coming to an end, but this doesn’t mean you don’t have to stop having fun with color. To make fall shopping easier for you, we’ve already tried out a few lip color from Mac and Nyx cosmetics so you’ll know exactly what to buy the next time you step inside a makeup store.

We’ve all heard of the phrase “the early bird gets the worm” and we can all come to a consensus that it’s true – - even in fashion. There is a reason why fashion week all over the world begins a few months before each season: to give everyone else the chance to pick up on the season’s noteworthy trends and stock accordingly – - and of course to be the first. It may be easy and simple for retail merchants to make out these trends, considering that this is part of their jobs and all of the access to fashion shows, but this may not be the case for common folks like us. To make it easier for you, we took a look at all the big designers and their fall collections and compiled a list of what’s to hit big in a few months. Not only that, but we’ve also suggested a few items that captures the essences of the trends.

When it comes to fashion we always want to look our best, and for those who live for fashion we want to look the best and want the best. By wanting the best, we mean the best of texture, material, and rich in color – no matter what color that may be – and to be honest fashion by these terms can get a little pricey. This is why we searched everywhere to find the best affordable clothes for just our readers.

We’ve all heard the dos and don’ts within the workforce – especially when it comes to your choice in clothing. For most jobs, conservativeness is the only style that’s accepted and recognized by co-workers and employers. We could tell where a person is in his/her life by taking a look at their closets. Most of the time when a closet is full of suits, trousers, collared shirts and blouses, and dress shoes, we could easily assume that that person is a working woman/man. During the week, a working woman/man lives a life where only clean, sharp, and conservative lines exists but of course we, here at Audrey, strongly believe a unique fashion sense doesn’t have to be ruled out in the office. It’s possible to express yourself through fashion even if you’re on the job. It only takes a few smart decisions in cut and color to look like how you want to look, but still staying on your boss’ good side. For proof, we put together 5 outfits that are completely wearable in the office and the other best part is that they’re all available for under $100.

Fall 2012 may be months away, but we, here at Audrey, can’t wait to feel the texture of wool, knits, and tweed on our skin again. This is why we’re so excited to tell you about a fall collection from the luxury brand Paul & Joe and its more affordable line Paul & Joe Sister. Our observation of what’s to come for fall trends were supported when we went through the racks of clothes from autumn collection yesterday on Robertson Blvd. We were pleased to see chunky knitted sweaters, leather bottoms and tops, cute and exotic prints, and suits filled the shiny silver racks. As well-groomed ladies came sauntering into the store, a DJ in the corner was spinning lively music while a server walked around the store holding a silver tray of hors d’oeuvres and a bartender in the back mixed pink martinis. The mood of the event was perfectly set making it easier and a more pleasant evening for us to get a sneak preview of Paul & Joe’s Autumn collection.

There’s a whole lot of love behind the success of the clothing line Everly and it’s designers, Adriana Leaw and Fabiana Choi. The Korean American sisters grew up watching their parents nurture and run a clothing line in both Brazil and the U.S., and realized that somewhere deep down in their hearts that they had developed a love in fashion/retail as well.
Their passion for what they do on a daily basis: looking at trend after trend, designing, creating mood boards for the upcoming season is definitely one of the components to why their line is still very much alive, but the main reason is what their hometown Brazil has taught them: love. As Audrey carried on the interview, which felt more like a natural conversation, we discovered that the love and respect they have for each other is really why Everly has worked out so well. Not only that, but the signature image of Everly wouldn’t exist without their amazing aptitude of balance.
As close as they are, they in no doubt believe and know that they have two very different personalities: Adriana, the older sister, is more conservative and Fabiana is more likely to take risks. When asked if they fight over business and designing decisions, they both revealed that they rarely argue. If there does come a time where they see differently on a certain design, they are able to either compromise or trust the other and go with her choice. In fact, their differences in style is a blessing in disguise as their aesthetic tastes catch each other’s extremes. For example, if Adriana pushes a piece to more of the trendy side, Adriana’s preferences in the classic, clean lines look will bring it back to the perfect middle. While during the middle of all of this, we wondered how arguments and disagreements could not be in the picture, and then our question was answered when they began to talk about the place they spent most of their lives in: Brazil.
While we believe Brazil is a place full of exoticism and the beautiful wild, the dynamic duo sees Brazil a place where they saw an ample amount of genuine and sincere love. Claiming that everyone in Brazil is loving, kind, and family oriented love is what they really got out of growing up in Brazil. Another Brazilian characteristic that stayed with them was the vibrant and assorted colors in the country. The various colors of the place is why they believe they are so attracted to bold colors and daring prints.
We have a lot of thanking to do for Brazil’s smart teachings of color and prints to the sisters as we can find a lot of those two out there styles in their line, Everly. Describing the Everly girl as normal but quirky, a risk taker but always polished (can you see their two different personalities?), Audrey magazine is thankful for creating a line that’s young, fresh, and will immediately make us stand out in a crowd full of stylish girls. Adriana and Fabiana take essential and basic styles, like the shift dress (their favorite), and are able to add spunk and a twist to it that makes it Everly. However, at the same time the line manages to keep it still feminine, flirty, and most importantly happy.
Happiness and brightness is what we instantly saw when conversing with them and we see why Everly is the way it is. The love and respect that they have for each other is why their clothes is so perfectly balanced with two different takes in fashion. We hope that when the day is cloudy and gray and/or when the crowd of girls is swallowed in a sea of boring and uneventful trends, the clothes of Everly will help us change all of that.

Name: Ki-Chun Wang
Country: South Korea
Sport: Judo
Ht/Wt: 5’7’’/160 lbs.
Birthdate: September 13, 1988
Judo may not be a popular sport, in the Olympics and in general, like swimming and track but Ki-Chun Wang might bring the deserved recognition to the modern martial arts sport. At 19-years-old, Wang became the second youngest world champion ever in 2007 and took home the gold medal that year. Two years later, he claimed his second gold. Then that following year in 2010, Wang won the bronze medal in the World Championships. As far as the Olympics, he entered as a favorite to win, but suffered from a fractured rib and achieved the silver. However, we hope that Wang goes all the way this year and we’ll definitely be cheering him on all the way through.
We already know Summer 2012 began months ago, but L.A. Fashion Weekend’s kickoff event made it feel as if the summer began Thursday, June 28 right at The Standard Hotel in Hollywood. Hair experts Wella Professionals presented Fashion Splash, an “intimate” swimsuit fashion show, right at The Standard’s pool. The runway served as a platform to three swimwear lines: Eclat Swimwear, Culture Swimwear, and Maui and Sons. While The Standard’s very L.A. décor of white leather sofas and palm tree leaves growing out of white marbles was the perfect backdrop for a swimsuit fashion show, it was the beautiful, tan guests; fruity cocktails; and the big, poolside umbrellas that made it feel like it was first day of summer.

I love Thursdays; not only does Thursday usher in the long awaited weekend, but Thursdays also mean it’s styling day here at the Audrey office. My co-workers and I meet up shortly after lunch and instead of our usual check-in meetings, we have a styling “party” where we test out styling products. Today was a hairstyling party and we tested out a 1” Lighted Titanium 450 Flat Iron by Andis Professional and Remington’s “All That!” hot rollers. With these products we either curled or straightened our hair and added finishing touches by using either hairspray and/or hair serums.
