After moving back to Los Angeles from a long stint in San Francisco a couple of months ago, I’ve been anticipating my first summer back in SoCal for quite some time now. I’ve already embarked on weekend trips to Vegas and San Diego, planned future bbq’s and bonfires at the beach, and been enjoying the warm nights sipping cocktails with friends at our favorite outdoor/rooftop lounges. My calendar’s been filling up with plenty of fun activities, but what’s my top event of the summer? The 10th Edition of Plate By Plate Los Angeles!
Organized by Project by Project, the Los Angeles chapter is taking the 15th anniversary of the national non-profit org quite seriously: they’ve gathered over 40 of some of LA and Orange County’s prominent chefs and mixologists to bring you a delightful night of community, drinks — and of course, the great eats.
Taking place on August 4th at the breathtaking Vibiana Cathedral in DTLA, PbPLa’s 10th Annual Tasting will feature a number of great highlights. Viva La Art, an arts organization that promotes activism, education, and philanthropy through community-organized events, will be partnering with PbPLA for a TOMS live shoe exhibit/silent auction. Besides the musical entertainment, I’m most looking forward to the cooking and mixology challenges of the night. The cooking showdown will be between Marcel Vigneron (Top Chef) and a surprise chef, while the mixology competition (hosted by St. Germain liqueur) will have mixologists Devon Espinosa (ink restaurant, Pour Vous), Gia St. George (City Tavern), and Chris Hewes (Roosevelt Hotel – Library Bar) vying for the coveted crowned cocktail of the night.
As a media partner with PbPLA, Audrey will be providing preview coverage of the event – stay tuned for more posts!
